Anket

Privacy Policy

The short version

Anket keeps everything on your own device. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and it sends nothing to its developer.

What Anket stores

All of the following is kept in your browser’s local extension storage, on your own device:

  • the calendar addresses (iCal URLs) you add, including private ones
  • the event details fetched from those calendars - titles and dates
  • which events you chose to display
  • any images you upload or paste as a background, and your theme settings

This data is never uploaded anywhere. It is not synced between your devices.

What Anket sends and where

Anket makes network requests to exactly one kind of destination: the calendar addresses you add yourself. Your browser fetches those calendar files directly, the same way it would if you opened the address in a tab. Nobody else sees the request.

Requests are made when you add a calendar and when you open a new tab and the cached copy is more than 15 minutes old.

If you choose “Send feedback”, Anket opens a Microsoft Forms page in a new tab. Anything you type into that form is handled by Microsoft under their privacy terms, not by Anket. Anket does not attach any of your data to that form.

What Anket does not do

  • No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or usage tracking
  • No advertising, and no selling or sharing of data with anyone
  • No accounts, and no developer-operated servers
  • No reading of your browsing history, tabs, or other pages

Permissions

Anket asks for as little as possible, and asks at the moment it is needed rather than at install:

  • Storage: to save your calendars, chosen events, images and settings on your device.
  • Access to a calendar’s website: requested only when you save a calendar, and only for that calendar’s own address. Anket is not granted access to the web in general. You can review or revoke these in your browser’s extension settings.
  • Clipboard reading requested only if you use “Paste image from clipboard”, and used only to read the image you are pasting.

Deleting your data

Removing a calendar deletes it and its events from storage. Uninstalling Anket deletes everything it has stored.
